therapy

i’m not sure why i seem to forget how much joy and peace sewing gives to me. especially this time of the year. after a crazy busy summer and fall season i am enjoying a little bit of a respit. funny things have been calming my life. like getting the house clean, i mean really clean, for the first time in months. having almost all of the laundry done on a regular basis. engaging with my amazing kids in a real way for more than five minutes at a time. and enjoying hobbies that get pushed to the side during the busy days. like sewing. fabric therapy i like to call it!
i love the fell of the different textures. the hum of the machine. watching a blanket come together piece by piece then seeing my kids wrap themselves up in the coziness. or throw together a few neck warmers for photographer friends with strained necks and backs!
and more than all else i love getting back to a slower rhythm. i thrive on the mock 3 rhythm of the summer and fall, but my body and mind and soul need this few weeks of the year when i can take a deep breath and truly appreciate all of the blessings in my life! now back to the machine…
